ROME, Italy—Kendrick Lamar is officially up a break in his feud with Drake, Coco Gauff joining fellow tennis star Naomi Osaka in his camp at the Internazionali BNL d’italia.

“I knew you were going to ask me this because you asked Naomi,” Gauff said after winning her opening match at the Foro Italico over Magdalena Freçh, and proceeded to echo some of the sentiments Osaka expressed on Wednesday.

“To be honest, yeah, I like Kendrick's songs more. Yeah, I think pretty much everybody I know is leaning towards him. I do like Drake as an artist, as well. But, yeah, as far as like the rap battle that's going on, the rap beef, I think definitely Kendrick is winning.”

Gauff further applauded Kendrick’s defense of Serena Williams, who was rumored to have dated Drake in the mid-2010s and is caught a proverbial stray from the Canadian rapper back in 2022.

In Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” diss track released on May 4, he warned Drake to “not speak on Serena.”

“Drake, like, dissed Serena so I have to go with Kendrick,” she added. “Kendrick defended her. So, yeah, I have to go with him.”

The beef appears to be on pause since Drake dropped “The Heart Part 6” on May 5, but if, say, the New York Times Popcast is looking for slick music criticism from a set of elite athletes, look no further than Naomi and Coco.
