Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal contested one of the most dramatic Wimbledon finals in history, and arguably one of the greatest tennis matches of all time. The ladies’ seedings meant little at Wimbledon. A rash of early upsets left the title up for grabs and it quickly became apparent that Venus and Serena Williams – two players whose seeds rarely reflect their abilities – would take advantage of this chaos.
