Ryan Harrison has hired Grant Doyle as his coach, TENNIS.com has learned. Harrison and Doyle have worked before, in 2012. The 22-year-old worked with USTA coach Jay Berger last year.
Harrison is practicing in Texas, where he has lived on and off. His longtime friend, former No. 1 Andy Roddick, owns a place there and says Harrison “has a lot of belief.”
Considered one of top younger Americans for a few years now, Harrison is currently ranked No. 190. He reached a career-high ranking of No. 43 in 2012, the last time Doyle was coaching him. This year, Harrison lost to Gael Monfils at the Australian Open and to Grigor Dimitrov at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.
Harrison says he is working hard, trying to listen and execute. He plans to play a series of Challenger tournaments, and may try and qualify for Brisbane before trying to qualify for the Australian Open.
