GUANGZHOU, China (AP) Defending champion Jelena Jankovic moved into the semifinals of Guangzhou Open after defeating Sabine Lisicki 7-6 (4), 6-4 in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

The second-seeded Serb will take on Croatia's Ana Konjuh, who beat Jennifer Brady 6-4, 7-5 in the other quarterfinal.

Estonia's Anett Kontaveit ended Viktorija Golubic's run with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory, setting up the other semifinal against Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko, who beat fifth-seeded Alison Riske 3-6, 6-4, 6-0.
