Novak Djokovic's new physiotherapist, Ulises Badio, says the Serb is eager to get back on tour following his elbow problems.
"Novak had a significant injury and we are bringing it under control," the Italy-based Argentine told La Nacion. "Time was required to improve it. The decision he took [not to play again this season] allowed us to have a timetable and not go back and forth about treatment.
"He has a lot of eagerness to return."
Badio, who is described as a trained kinesiologist and physiotherapist specializing in acupuncture, and other Chinese therapy, developed expertise in arm injuries at a clinic in Italy. He was also a physiotherapist at the tournament in Rome, working on Djokovic this year when the Serb had arrived having just split from his team.
Djokovic then asked him to join his team, which also included new coach Andre Agassi.
Working with a top player had been an ambition of his, said Badio. Having Agassi is another plus, he added, saying, "I read his book, which I found emotional. Now I've met him, and he seems a captivating person."
He indicated that he is to travel with Djokovic full-time, and also work with him for some weeks in Serbia and Monte Carlo. The two speak largely in Italian, with some Spanish.
Djokovic has not played since retiring with injury at Wimbledon, and plans to return by the Australian Open.
