How It Tested: From the 12-ounce weight to the extremely head-light balance and down to the leather grip, there’s an old-school feel to the Pure Storm Limited. So much so that one 4.0 all-court playtester commented, “It plays like a racquet from the ’80s.” If you enjoyed the racquets of that era and you’re on top of your game, this frame will be right up your alley. The emphasis is on control and feel, as all the power generated will depend on a player’s ability to get the racquet moving quickly. The hefty weight produces excellent stability and the head-light balance makes it easy to handle, which playtesters appreciated at net. But while it’s solid on volleys, you really have to stick them to put the ball away. Many testers found it more effective to rely on angles, which were easy to create with this racquet. The Pure Storm Limited provides great control from the baseline, but the sweet spot can be tricky to find, and don’t expect much spin out of the dense string pattern (18x20) with this mid head size.

Bottom Line: It’s not for average players, but advanced all-courters looking for a traditional-feeling frame will like it.
