On Sunday, No. 1 seed Agnieszka Radwanska and No. 2 seed Angelique Kerber tumbled out in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open. Radwanska fell to Dominika Cibulkova, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3, while Kerber, who just won a clay-court title in Stuttgart, was ousted by Barbora Strycova, 6-4, 6-2. And the hits just kept on coming for the decimated event when, on the men's side, Roger Federer pulled out with a back injury. (Serena Williams also withdrew last week.)

In Estoril, Nicolas Almagro overcame Pablo Carreno Busta for his 13th career title, winning 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5), 6-3. And in Istanbul, Grigor Dimitrov suffered a third-set meltdown complete with demolished racquets and a game penalty to give Diego Schwartzman his first-ever ATP title, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (4), 6-0.
