Andrey Rublev gave Novak Djokovic all he could handle in a three-set semifinal at the Rolex Paris Masters on Saturday, but the way the Russian ate his mid-match snack stole the show on social media.

Rublev was picked up by cameras during a changeover peeling his banana from the bottom up, and fans were utterly divided on his method of doing so as the clip made the rounds.

"This is an easy way to peel a banana," one wrote on X, the platform formerly called Twitter. "He's right."

"At this point in the match, I stopped rooting for Rublev," another joked.

Daria Saville even chimed in, and the Russian-born Aussie was firmly on Team Rublev.

Fueled by potassium and inspired play, Rublev won a set against Djokovic on hard courts for the first time, but ultimately fell just short in his upset quest in a 5-7, 7-6(3), 7-5 defeat that lasted a tick over three hours.

His level impressed the world No. 1.

"Rublev was suffocating me like a snake suffocates a frog for most of the match," Djokovic, who will go for his seventh title in Paris against Grigor Dimitrov on Sunday, said afterwards.

"He was playing an extremely high level that he possesses, but today, he was off the charts, honestly. I don’t think I’ve ever faced Rublev this good.

"Somehow managing to find strength, find energy under the adrenaline rush of playing a match ... not giving up, fighting and believing that I can come back, which happened again and hopefully it can happen tomorrow.”
