Get your paddles ready, pickleball is going Hollywood.

It was seemingly only a matter of time before the surging sport got the film treatment—and the upcoming project is getting a boost from former tennis world No. 1 Andy Roddick.

The 2003 Open champion is set to make his big screen debut in the pickleball comedy “The Dink”, starring in a supporting role alongside Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen and Ed Harris.

According to Variety, “The Dink” will see Johnson (“New Girl”) play a “washed-up tennis pro who is trying to save a club in crisis and win his father’s respect. But in the process, he’s forced to break a solemn vow and do the one thing he swore he’d never do: play pickleball.”

Ben Stiller is also set to produce the film through his company Red Hour Films, and will act in a supporting role—hopefully in the same vein as his co-starring and production role in the 2004 cult classic “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story”.

Josh Greenbaum is directing the film, with Rivulet Films also signing on to produce. Filming is set to begin in Los Angeles this November.

With the news comes the question: Will “The Dink” do for pickleball what the Zendaya-led “Challengers” did for tennis this year?

Searches for “adult tennis lessons” were up 245% worldwide after the film’s release—which also coincided with the return of pleated skirts, high socks and white sneakers as ‘tenniscore’ once again became the look of the summer. The film immediately garnered award show buzz, too, meaning the hype is nowhere near slowing down.

Already the fastest growing sport in the USA, expect pickleball fever will hit a whole new level as the sport is shown on screen to a wider audience.
