American 16-year-old Amanda Anisimova has broken into the mainstream tennis consciousness in 2018—first by winning three matches in Indian Wells, and then by reaching the round of 16 in Cincinnati this week.

By the looks of it, Anisimova is going to be around for a while, so the WTA had her tell a little bit about herself in a video.

In it, Anisimova describes herself as crazy, fun and loyal, and the reigning junior US Open champion surely has been having lots of fun this season.

At the BNP Paribas Open this spring, Anisimova claimed her biggest result to date, with composed and impressive wins over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Petra Kvitova to reach the fourth round.

Ultimately Karolina Pliskova was a step too far for the teen, but her ascent wasn’t done yet.

After a foot injury sidelined her from Miami until last month, Anisimova returned to the tour in San Jose, qualifying and reaching the second round before losing an up-and-down match to eventual champion Mihaela Buzarnescu.

Anisimova continued to turn heads on American soil at the Western & Southern Open with wins over Timea Babos and Petra Martic.

In the round of 16, she fell 6-4, 6-4 to fifth seed Elina Svitolina.

The teenager's breakout year could continue on into New York this month, where she's been given a main-draw wild card into the US Open.
