CINCINNATI, Ohio—Aryna Sabalenka was decidedly chill with her star turn on the first season of Netflix’s “Break Point,” which debuted its second set of episodes ahead of the Wimbledon Championships earlier this summer.

“I like my episode,” she said after avenging her All England Club defeat to Ons Jabeur at the Western & Southern Open. “I mean, probably was a little bit sad because I was crying watching it. Like, everyone was crying watching it. I was hoping they going to show more positive side of my team, myself.

“But at the same time I was, I don't know, I really liked it because I wanted the people to know what we are facing, like the story behind the scenes.”

Sabalenka’s episode, which closes the season and focuses on her run to the championship match of the WTA Finals, indeed takes viewers on a journey through her early-season struggles on serve and her reaction to the Russian and Belarusian invasion into Ukraine.

By the time she arrives in Fort Worth, the world No. 2 is feeling in good spirits about her “miracle” season, which foreshadows her electric start to 2023 and maiden major title at the Australian Open.

“I hope in the next episode it will be even better,” she teased. “It will be more positive.”

Not all of her castmates were as happy with their portrayal, however; Iga Swiatek took exception both to what was put in and left out of her episode, speaking at length about a scene between her and sports psychologist Daria Abramowicz in her post-match press conference on Friday.

Sabalenka took particular exception to Swiatek’s claim that she was unable to make any changes before the season aired.

“I know before episode comes out, you watch it with Netflix on Zoom and you can make this adjustment like, 'I don't like this, this.' You can change this, that or that,” explains the No. 2 seed, who could face rival Swiatek in the final. “I don't know, like, why she couldn't do that when she was checking her episode. I don't know.”

With Netflix crews on the ground in Cincinnati, it’s possible we’re all in the middle of a second-season episode yet to air. But who will have the happiest ending?
