This past weekend won't be forgotten any time soon for Ashlyn Krueger. The Texas teen booked her ticket to the US Open by staying calm on the big points to top Reese Brantmeier, 6-2, 7-6 (3), at the USTA Billie Jean King Girls 18s National Championships in San Diego.

Leading 6-5 in the second set, the 17-year-old found herself at match point but couldn't convert and would lose the 14-point game. However, she managed to keep her nerves under control and played a solid tiebreak to claim the championship match.

The six-foot-one teen's victory gives her a wild card into the upcoming US Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. But Krueger won't just be in the singles draw at the major event. She also took home the doubles title alongside partner Robin Montgomery. The two seamlessly posted a 6-0, 6-1 score over the event's No. 11 seeds Elvina Kalieva and Elise Wagle in just 51 minutes.

Earning two USTA gold balls in one day and with the US Open now on the horizon, Krueger is full of excitement for what lies ahead.

“I'm just super happy and excited. I'm just ecstatic about the future,” Krueger said. “I just played within myself. She (Brantmeier) played amazing. She served really good. I just had to hang in there.”

The US Open's main draw kick off on August 30.
