Hi Nick: I’m a 4.0 player who sometimes faces opponents with great pace and little control, and other times opponents with little pace and great control. When I switch from one opponent to another, I have trouble watching the ball and then I miss shots. Do you have any suggestions?

—Cesar Gonzalez, Montgomery, NY

Hi Cesar: Each player will be different, so I would do the following at the start of  the match.

1

Hit every ball deep and to the center of the court.

2

Now you know where you are hitting the ball and after a few rallies, you will know what your opponent will do with that ball.

3

Remember that every player has a unique style and you must scope it out during  the warm-up.
