Hi Nick: I’m a Super Senior player and find myself standing too close to the ball on my forehand, as well as holding back on this shot in order to keep the ball in the court because I have little follow through and practically no topspin. I haven’t been able to figure out why I’m too close to the ball. Suggestions? What should I do at this late stage in the game in order to get a little topspin on my forehand so that I can hit harder and higher over the net?

Hi Frank: Don’t laugh or think I am crazy, but I first suggest that you visit your eye doctor and make sure your eyesight, especially in your left eye, is good. I’m guessing you have an Eastern grip, like most senior players. With this grip, if a ball is hit hard to you and with spin, you have no choice but to get low with your legs and exaggerate your follow-through with excessive racquet-head speed  and hit low to high.
