It seems the hidden gem in the middle of the California desert is becoming less of a secret as the years pass. Back in 2019, when I first visited the four-court tennis facility in Borrego Springs, CA called "The Courts," the Los Angeles tennis community was unfamiliar. Two years later, its expanded far past the tennis world and everyone wants a piece of what could be the most unique place to serve it up.

Most recently, Brother Velliescreative director and founder Aurora James took some time to work on her game while taking in the sights and sounds of the scenic club.

James is a paramount figure in the Black community and is an activistfor social justice and equality across the board. She also started Brother Vellies with just $3500 dollars in hopes of preserving the shoemaking craft across South Africa and to create job opportunities for artisans. Now, the Canadian's business is flourishing and is working with other countries within Africa and beyond.

There's no doubt James is a busy woman, but there's always time for the court. The 33-year-old rocked Brother Vellies' newly restocked Oat and Ivory Cloud socks during her on-court session.

James appeared to have a nice relaxing getaway, which included sleeping in a cute mobile and lots of tennis.
