Call her, beep her, if you want to reach her—unless she's playing in Abu Dhabi.

A ringing cell phone briefly interrupted the third set of the semifinal between Belinda Bencic and Elena Rybakina on Friday, with the two players and fans eventually amused to discover that it was Bencic's phone.

As the Swiss stepped to the line to serve at 15-0 leading 2-0 in the second set, a repetitive ringing alarm could be heard reverberating around center court at the Zayed Sports City International Tennis Centre. Bencic looked to her left and right to find its source, only to rush over to her bench upon realizing the source of the sound was her tennis bag.

"Sometimes, a player forgets," Gambill quipped.

Bencic isn't the first player to be pulled out of the competitive zone by their own cell phone mid-match. Twelve years ago in Bastad, Sweden, Alizé Cornet's phone famously rang as she faced match point against Caroline Wozniacki, and last year, Frenchmen Harold Mayot and Corentin Moutet were shook when their devices went off during matches with Cameron Norrie and Novak Djokovic, respectively.

But unlike those players, Bencic later walked off the court a winner, no doubt with new congratulatory messages to check.

The brief interruption did little to derail a resurgent Bencic and her upset bid against the top seed. She eventually wrapped up a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback on her first match point, sealing her first Top 10 victory in nearly two full years, and her first tour-level final appearance as a mom.
