En route to winning Indian Wells, her first WTA title, Naomi Osaka swept aside Maria Sharapova in the first round, defeating her in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

During the match, the Japanese player used her powerful forehand to drive the Russian back, like in this point where the former world No. 1 could do nothing but watch the ball zip by her.
