Here’s something you don’t see every day. Due to rainy weather, court space was limited for Ash Barty and Karolina Pliskova’s pre-match hit. Luckily, the two are close friends, and despite the nerves, there were smiles all around.

On the 50th anniversary of fellow Aussie Evonne Goolagong Cawley winning Wimbledon, Barty repeated the feat wearing a dress inspired by the Indigenous trailblazing champion.

The tournament cleared a much safer pathway for Barty to celebrate with her team after match point, but Barty must have had Pat Cash’s iconic climb in her mind.

Pliskova missed an incredibly easy volley at 5-5 in the second set. Thankfully, the brutal miss did not cost the Czech in the long run, but it clearly damaged Martina Navratilova and Billie Jean King’s soul. The two legends are some of the best volleyers of all time, and couldn’t fathom missing such a shot.
