Have 50 grand lying around? You might just be able own a piece of tennis history. The racquet that Roger Federer used in his last Roland Garros final is up for sale at an auction by Prestige Memorabilia that opened this week.

The racquet is expected to garner the hefty price tag in a bidding period that began on May 14 and ends June 2. The auction also includes other autographed match-worn and used items by other tennis legends.

Federer wielded the custom-made Wilson racquet in 2011, when he reached his fifth (and final) Roland Garros final in six years. To do so, he famously ended Novak Djokovic's 43-match winning streak in the semis—and celebrated with a now-iconic finger wag—before losing to rival Rafael Nadal in four sets. The racquet was provided to the auction by Federer's eponymous charity foundation, and photomatching forensic technology confirmed that it is the same one he used.

The racquet also has Federer's autograph on the handle.

In addition to Federer's stick, collectors can bid on...

  • The shoes that carried Iga Swiatek to the BNP Paribas Open title this spring
  • The shirt, wristbands and shoes that Nadal wore in leading Spain to the 2009 Davis Cup
  • A wristband worn by Carlos Alcaraz during his run to the 2022 US Open title, which also vaulted him to world No. 1 for the first time.

But perhaps the most topical collector's item? The soon-to-be retiring Dominic Thiem's smashed Babolat racquet that he used at the 2019 Internazionali BNL d'Italia, where he was upset in the second round by Fernando Verdasco in the midst of a scheduling dispute with tournament organizers. Per the auction house, it comes with a letter of authenticity from the original recipient, who worked at the tournament and was given the racquet by Thiem.
