Billie Jean King is proving that it’s never too late!

At 81 years old, she re-enrolled in California State University Los Angeles to complete the history degree she abandoned in pursuit of her professional tennis career.

“I never graduated from college,” she writes on X, formerly Twitter. “It has always bothered me. This is about to change.”

Calling it the “Road to Graduation,” King joins the Class of 2026 after dropping out in 1964—when the university was called California State College.

“I was a history major, and I’m back being a history major,” King said in the first 'Road to Graduation' post.

Fans were quick to note the irony of the women's tennis pioneer majoring in history, with one fan replying, “I think you get extra credit when you’re profiled in the class text!”

King shows off some of her assigned reading, laughing at how much homework she has ahead of her.

“I love it,” she said. “We’ll continue to have episodes along the way to see my road to graduation.”
