Entering her third season of World Team Tennis, Eugenie Bouchard is hoping her two appearances with the New York Empire help put her season back on track. Riding a four-match losing streak since the French Open, the Canadian won her singles rubber on Thursday over the Orange County Breakers' Yanina Wickmayer, 5-2.

"I really learned a lot from my experiences [with WTT]," Bouchard said. "Now I'm only playing two nights, but I'm going to make the most of them. I will love to hear what Gigi [Fernandez] has to tell us and encourage us. I hope to learn the most from some doubles tips from her. She was an amazing player."

Fernandez, a 17-time doubles Grand Slam champion, is the lone female head coach in the league. The doubles tips may take a while to sink in as Bouchard teamed with Kirsten Flipkens to lose 5-0 to Wickmayer and Klepac. Still, the night was filled with fun times:

In the past few days, Bouchard has been part of a whirlwind media tour, helping promote Coca Cola, Smartwater and the upcoming Rogers Cup.

She also made a pitstop in Toronto for an exhibition with Venus Williams.

The Breakers would get the win, 22-16. Bouchard will play one more match with the New York Empire on Friday, before heading to Washington.

"What I love about WTT is that team atmosphere because tennis is so individual," Bouchard said. "So to not only have the coach right next to me, but the whole team encouraging me, those are some of my favorite memories from WTT."
