“What f*cking Netflix Curse?” indeed.

Holger Rune fielded what may be the final question regarding the jinx that seemingly accompanied the stars of the streamer’s first season of ‘Break Point,’ which dropped last January and preceded a slew of injuries and early exits from nearly everyone featured in its first five episodes.

“I think it's stupid, to be honest. No offense,” he said after a four-set win over Yoshihito Nishioka to reach the second round in Melbourne.

Rune, who linked up with power coaches Boris Becker and Severin Luthi in the last three months, was clearly undaunted by the Curse at the time. He signed up to film during the 2023 Australian Open and continuing to work with the Netflix team through a successful European swing, that featured two Masters 1000 finals and back-to-back quarterfinals at Roland Garros at Wimbledon.

The 20-year-old navigated a physical first round against Nishioka, and will next face Frenchman Arthur Cazaux as he hopes to better his fourth round finish from last year.

“I think Novak could do ten Netflix series and still win 20 Grand Slams or 24,” the Dane said further. “It's really something that it's not about that.”

And in fairness, the players featured in the second half of Season 1 enjoyed uninterrupted success, including Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka, who Rune reminds us won the Australian Open last year.

How have the Season 2 cast fared thus far? Rune, Alcaraz, and Sabalenka remain in the hunt for the title Down Under, as do co-stars Taylor Fritz, Coco Gauff, Daniil Medvedev, Tommy Paul, Jessica Pegula, Maria Sakkari, Ben Shelton, and Alexander Zverev.

If we get a Season 3, it would seem the curse chatter has been officially canceled.
