Built for disguise: Adidas unveils 2023 Paris collection

When Adidas athletes hit the clay courts in Paris this year, they’ll be wearing designs that highlight the uniqueness of the surface, with technical aspects for improved performance. The 14-piece collection for both men and women, adorned with colors such as burnt orange, black and white, features camouflage earthy prints to represent the crushed stone, brick and shale of clay. Not only does this give each piece a distinctive, sporty look, but is intended to disguise the wearer’s stroke preparation and movement.

The entire collection employs HEAT.RDY and AEROREADY technologies for body temperature regulation and breathability. Multi-layered garments, such as the men’s 2-in-1 shorts and women’s Match Tight and Skirt, are also included to combat the cooler temperatures that can accompany a Paris spring. Select pieces are Made To Be Remade (MTBR) products, which are the first to be developed by Adidas to have an end-of-life solution. Once returned, each is wear assessed to determine how it can be used in the development of future apparel.

The Paris Collection is currently available for purchase at adidas.com, the adidas app and tennis specialty retailers. Here’s a look at some of the pieces that Adidas pros will be wearing throughout the clay season.

Stefano Tsitsipas wears the Paris MTBR Tee ($80) in black. It’s one of the pieces in the collection made to be recycled. The top is also available in Off White. He’ll match it with the Paris Ergo Short ($65) in Carbon.

Félix Auger-Aliassime sports the Paris FRL Tee ($65) in Preloved Red. The slim fitting top has Freelift construction—a design feature in the arms that allows greater freedom of movement—ventilated back panel and sleeve cuffs. He pairs it with the Paris Ergo Short ($65) in Carbon, which has a 7” inseam, drawstring elastic waistband and an inner-leg mesh gusset for breathability.

Maria Sakkari will wear the Paris Y-Tank ($70) in Carbon, which features a high neck, Y-shaped racerback and built-in bra. Her accompanying Paris Match Skirt ($75) in Wonder Taupe is slightly flared, has pleats on the sides, built-in shorts for coverage and ball storage.

Alexander Zverev serves it up in the Paris FRL Polo ($75) in Carbon. The polo has funneled neck, seamless 3-button placket and ventilated back panel. He will match it with the Paris Ergo Short ($65) in Preloved Red, which has a clay-inspired accent on the left leg.
