Team Europe is already reloading in pursuit of the 2024 Laver Cup. Captain Bjorn Borg announced Wednesday that Carlos Alcaraz will make his debut for the blue team in next year in Berlin, with his team seeking its first victory at the event since 2021.

After winning the first four editions of the competition, Team Europe fell short both last year in London and this year in Vancouver to John McEnroe's Team World, but Borg says he's "leaving no stone unturned for 2024" to get Europe back in the winner's circle.

“The goal is to win and having Carlos commit to Team Europe’s cause is a thrilling start to what I anticipate will be an exceptional roster," he said.

“What Carlos has achieved at such a young age is unbelievable. He’s a unique talent and should bring great energy to the team. I look forward to writing his name on the lineup card.”

In addition to making his Laver Cup debut, Alcaraz will also touch down Berlin for the first time, having never even previously visited the city.

“I appreciate Captain Borg’s confidence in me, and I look forward to teaming up with my rivals in both singles and doubles in Berlin,” he said. “It means a lot to represent Team Europe at Laver Cup, this is a great honor.

“I am excited to have an opportunity to perform in front of fans there for the first time and to explore Berlin. I will bring all I have to the competition to help win back the Cup.”

The 2024 Laver Cup will be played from Sept. 20-22 at Mercedes-Benz Arena.
