It was a bit of a midweek letdown for the ATP finals with a few lopsided matches, but the most competitive match turned into the first win for Dominic Thiem in London. There were still a solid handful of highlights:

OK, Wednesday wasn’t David Goffin’s day. He got pummeled 6-0, 6-2 by an on-fire Grigor Dimitrov, but the Belgian's first bad sign was a stray warmup shot. Try not to flinch when it jumps out of your screen.

Maybe Dimitrov is on the cusp of superstardom. From the beginning of his match against Goffin he played a perfect blend of attacking tennis and patient defense. He closed down the net and used his backhand slice for the kind of control reminiscent of a certain Swiss. It was all on display at match point:

Filling in for the world No. 1 Rafael Nadal, Pablo Carreno Busta did a fair impersonation of his countryman with this line drive return against Dominic Thiem.

The genius on this all-or-nothing winner came through the Carreno Busta's quick footwork. He was so far off the court he had no choice but to line up for a spectacular winner. It’s the shot of the day even if he lost the thrilling match to Thiem, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
