A very happy Dominika Cibulkova has made a stand for shorter players by winning the WTA Finals in Singapore over Angelique Kerber. The new world No. 5 is just 5'3" in a sport where plenty of her opponents tower over her.

With her 6-3, 6-4 win on Sunday she ended a five-match losing streak to Kerber, and took home the biggest title of her career, and the biggest title ever for a Slovak WTA player. It's her eighth career title, having won Linz to earlier this month to qualify for the WTA Finals.

"I think I was always brave. With my height, I was also maybe stubborn and brave that I really wanted to play tennis," she said. "And nobody could talk me [into] something different. I'm glad I can be motivation for people who don't just see the big girls winning the big tournaments, but also that somebody like me has a chance.

"To be on the biggest stage and to win this tournament, it means everything."

Rest and celebrations are in order for the 27-year-old, who will go home to Bratislava first and then head to the Maldives to "enjoy and relax." It'll be a much-deserved vacation.
