Cibulkova to marry on July 9, day of Wimbledon final

Dominika Cibulkova is having a great month, and it’s only going to get better. Regardless of how her Wimbledon run ends, the final weekend of the major will be unforgettable for the Slovak, as she's set to marry her fiancé, Miso Navara, on July 9.

But first, her Wimbledon campaign. On Tuesday, the world No. 18 won her first-round match against Mirjana Lucic-Baroni, 7-5, 6-3. It marked Cibulkova’s sixth straight win on grass, having won Eastbourne last week for her first career grass-court title.

“I was lucky to get to play on Tuesday since I get a few days off,” Cibulkova said. “It’s never easy when you win a tournament because you have to come back here [right away]. I’m keeping the momentum. I was playing really well. I was mentally strong during difficult situations during the match.”

The 27-year-old next faces Daria Gavrilova, who she's never played before. While her recent play on grass has been promising, she’s got something else in mind for next weekend, and it doesn’t include playing the women’s final: her wedding in Bratislava.

“We planned this nine month ago," Cibulkova said. "You never know what can happen. I’ve played here so many years, and I did once [reach] the quarterfinals. If I’m still here that would be [a] dream coming true, so it will be good this way or the other way. "

The pair makes up one of the highest-profile tennis couples on tour.

“We’ll see what’s going to happen,” Cibulkova said. “I’m feeling really good on grass and I want to keep it going.”
