After being booed at the Australian Open, Danielle Collins is laughing all the way to the bank—and to a sunny beach in the Caribbean, as she makes good on her promise to enjoy a “five-star Bahamas vacation” funded by her haters.

The 31-year-old American, who postponed her retirement by a year, played the heel in Melbourne when she got into a back-and-forth with a jeering and whistling crowd after her rollercoaster victory over home hope Destanee Aiava.

After blowing kisses to the scandalized crowd, Collins vowed to make the most of her growing Grand Slam paycheck—she took home just over $180,000 (USD) for reaching the third round.

“Every person that's bought a ticket to come out here and heckle me or do what they do, it's all going towards the Danielle Collins Fund,” she said during her post-match press conference.

“Me and my group of girlfriends love a five-star vacation,” she added. “I can guarantee you that check is going to go towards our next five-star trip, hopefully to The Bahamas. We like big boats, we like big boats, we like yachts. We'll post about it, let you guys know how it goes.”

The 2022 finalist did exactly that, taking to social media on Sunday to post a video of herself and her group of friends enjoying a luxury stay at Coral Sands Inn & Cottages on Harbour Island. The envy-inducing clips include Collins with a drink in hand, strolling along the palm trees and doing a bit of sun tanning.

While Collins’ on-court antics made her Public Enemy No. 1 in Australia, her exchanges with the crowd won her new fans and made headlines around the world. It also got the approval of 10-time champion Novak Djokovic, who is no stranger to getting into it with a hostile crowd.

“I loved her response. I loved it,” Djokovic said, grinning during a press conference. “Everything she said on the court, off the court. Big fan of Danielle Collins after that. I was before. But now? Big fan. I love it.

“I heard some comments of people that she shouldn’t have said (this) or that. I think she handled it really well. I don’t think I would be that polite, and I know exactly the feeling.”

Collins, who withdrew from both Doha and Dubai citing a lingering foot injury, is next scheduled to compete at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells which starts on March 5.
