The former world No. 1 shared a heartwarming New Year’s message, along with a picture of his growing family ahead of the first major tournament of 2025.

Daniil Medvedev shared a New Year’s surprise with the tennis world when he revealed the birth of his second child on social media Tuesday.

“Happy 2025❤️” captioned the former world No. 1 alongside daughter Alisa and his new baby.

Medvedev and wife Daria welcomed Alisa to their family in 2022, the 2021 US Open champion admitting he saw much of himself in his daughter to TENNIS.com last fall.

“If something doesn’t go her way, then she throws a toy in anger or bites it,” joked Medvedev. “My wife is looking at me saying, ‘Okay, where does it come from?’ And that’s pretty funny because you start asking yourself if it’s just pure genetics and I don’t have an answer to this question!”

The 28-year-old, who finished the 2024 season ranked No. 5 in the ATP rankings, had been conspicuously absent from the start of the new year, yet to travel to Australia for warm-up tournaments or the upcoming Australian Open.
