When times are tough at least everyone can rely on Juan Martin del Potro to make you feel better. Del Potro recently arrived home in Argentina from Miami, and is in the midst of a self-quarantine.

“It is very important to take care of each other,” del Potro said on Instagram. “Please follow the specialists’ advice, be empathetic. It is a special, unique moment and we need to give our best.”

Del Potro knows a thing or two about empathy. Who can forget the kindness del Potro showed to an inconsolable Nicolas Almagro after he blew out his knee (something Delpo knows a thing or two about) at the 2017 French Open?

Perhaps the games’ most gracious competitor, the Gentle Giant is always quick to extend a helping hand. From consoling crying fans to brightening the day of a supporter with Down syndrome, del Potro has a heart to match his giant forehand.

“I want to thank the commander of the Aerolineas Argentinas flight that landed this morning in Buenos Aires,” he added on Instagram. “Thanks to all its crew for their kindness during the flight. Also, a big hug to the doctors and health professionals during this difficult times.”

Tennis takes a backseat to life during these times, but hopefully the extended break—which is now until June 8—gives the 31-year-old enough recovery time for one final push.
