Presenting your daily look at the doubles action at the US Open.

When you put two former world No. 1's together who’ve each won multiple Grand Slam titles, experience plays a vital role in coming through in clutch situations. That was the case on Sunday with Sania Mirza and Shuai Peng.

The fourth-seeded team advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(2) victory over Sorana Cirstea and Sara Sorribes Tormo. Being veterans out there definitely counts for something.

Here’s a look at some of today’s matches on the schedule.

Ekaterina Makarova/Elena Vesnina (1) vs. Andreja Klepac/Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez (14)

How many matches can one person play in the span of two days? It looks like Vesnina’s going to find out. After finishing her third-round singles match in the wee hours on Sunday morning, she was back on court later in the day for a three-set doubles match. Now, she’s scheduled to go again this afternoon. It will be interesting to see how much she has left in the tank as the former US Open champs look to keep their summer winning streak alive.

Bob Bryan/Mike Bryan (5) vs. Oliver Marach/Mate Pavic (9)

The Bryan brothers are the greatest men’s doubles team of all time, but this year hasn’t lived up to their usual standards. Marach and Pavic are a dangerous pair, having reached the final at this year’s Wimbledon. The winner of this match has a good shot at advancing to the championship match in New York.

The Bryans are eager to get out there.

Gabriela Dabrowski/Rohan Bopanna (7) vs. Hao-Ching Chan/Michael Venus (3)

Three of the four players taking the court won their first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros this year. Dabrowski and Bopanna—the mixed doubles champs—are looking to continue their strong Slam season and could be poised for a minor upset here.
