Emma Raducanu has officially given fans a hint about her 2022 plans.

The US Open champion recently played an exhibition match against Elena-Gabriela Ruse—the world No. 85 from Romania—in Britain's Royal Albert Hall. Raducanu came out on top, winning the match in straight sets. After the event, the 19-year-old gave an update on her pre-season plans and what 2022 has in store.

“Six days I just completely switched off and I started my pre-season this week on Tuesday, but I’ve been doing a lot of fitness and not so much tennis—so I was a bit nervous coming out to play in front of everyone here,” she said.

“I’m doing a pre-season and working hard on my fitness. As you can tell, I need to work with my sprints to the net as I was getting drop-shotted...then I’m heading out to the Middle East to finish my pre-season and then Christmas out there and flying to Australia from there on the 17th.”

The world No.19 finished her season with a second-round loss to Wang Xinyu at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz in November. Since then, the 19-year-old has simply been "vibing" and taking a break from tennis before kicking off pre-season.

After the off-season, Raducanu will head to the Australian Open where she will compete for her first Melbourne title. The Brit has never competed in the main draw of the Australian Open before.
