Emma Raducanu began her North American hardcourt swing ranked No. 184 and she returned back home as world No. 22. Raducanu reunited with her parents on Sunday for the first time since her Cinderella-like run in New York.

Raducanu received a police escort and traveled with security back home to Bromley, southeast London. She was greeted outside by her father, Ian Raducanu and the two hugged before posing for media and going inside. Her parents were not able to attend the major event due to COVID-19 restrictions, and Raducanu expressed her disappointment that they couldn't be in Flushing Meadows to witness her triumph.

“They just really want to know how I am in these moments. I would have loved them to be here," she told ABC News following her victory.

Although they don't talk a lot of tennis, the 18-year-old credits both of her parents for giving her the mental strength to keep going further in New York. Raducanu also told media that her parents are a little hard to please, but this major title did the trick.

“They are my toughest critics, and very, very hard to please. But, yeah, I got them with this one," she said.

Following her US Open victory, Raducanu stayed in New York for fashion's biggest night out at the Met Gala. She was invited to the A-list event by Anna Wintour, who made room for her and US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez on the guest list.

Raducanu plans to take it easy for a few days this week before getting back to training. She's feeling "hungry" to get better and back on the practice court.
