Hi everyone,

Estoril is a really beautiful place, just west of Lisbon, over-looking the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately, for me and my tennis, it wasn't so beautiful. I went out early in singles qualies to Andrey Rublev and then, as top seeds in doubles, we lost to eventual champions Ryan Harrison and Michael Venus in the first round.

I came into the clay season knowing this is not my favorite surface, and with the idea that this would be better for my game long-term. In saying that, no one likes losing and I'm going to do everything I can to try and get through some matches this week. So, now I'm in Rome for the Roma Garden Open Challenger.

Also, finally, my girlfriend, Britt, will join me on the road. It's been a long few months apart, after I went back to Australia for Davis Cup and she finished her last few weeks of college in Richmond. She graduated recently, and so draws to a close the chapter of us living in Virginia. The city really grew on me for the four years that I was there and I always looked forward to heading back.

It's a tough thing being a tennis player, spending long amounts of time away from family and friends, but it's all part of the tennis life and I'm really happy that I get to spend the next few months with her on the road with me in Europe.

So, with two more weeks until the French Open qualies start, I'll keep battling away on the clay and keep doing everything possible to turn things around!
