He then spoke on the banned catsuit that Serena sported–for preventative medical reasons, per her–at Roland Garros in May. He defended his fellow GOAT, paired with expressing his support for Alize Cornet, who was initially given a code violation in the same event for taking off her top fleetingly to wear it correctly.
"What was the problem with taking the T-shirt off or the catsuit? Serena has worn crazier stuff in the past" he said. "Guys have worn crazier stuff. For me, it was a bit of nonsense. Just chill out for a second. I was totally on the women's side. Leave them alone."
Federer is currently the No. 2 seed at the ATP Finals in London, behind Novak Djokovic. The Swiss has reigned over the season-concluding event six times, although not since 2011, dropping his past three appearances in its championship round to Djokovic.
