While picking up two awards last night at the Laureus Sports Awards in Monaco, Roger Federer took time to give credit to his rival Rafael Nadal. Both enjoyed an incredible 2017 season, earning two Grand Slam titles each.

"I wanted to give a shoutout to him," Federer told the crowd. The 36-year-old very recently took the No. 1 spot from the Spaniard. Nadal was a nominee for Sportsman of the Year award.

The Swiss became the winningest person in Laureus Sports Awards history, picking up his sixth award with his Sportsman of the Year and Comeback of the Year honors.

Federer was humble in his award acceptance speeches, thanking all those who helped him along the way, even sharing a special message with his many fans.

Nadal won the award in 2011 and has two additional Laureus Awards (in 2006 and 2014). Federer's six wins include a four-year run from 2005 to 2008. Serena Williams won for Sportswoman of the Year.
