Roger Federer is gearing up his training for the 2021 Australian Open. Fans know he's been dealing with a right knee injury, undergoing surgery in February followed by second procedure in June. But he's on track and the 39-year-old posted the proof himself.

The Swiss hasn't competed on tour since the Australian Open, where he lost in the semifinals to Novak Djokovic. While he's been largely out of the spotlight for most of 2020, Federer has done some appearances for his sponsors, including Lindt, Barilla, On and Wilson.

His coach, Ivan Ljubicic, recently gave an update in OK Tennis, an Italian news site.

"He is in the recovery phase," Ljubicic said. "I would say that things are going in the best way. He trains more and more and better. I'm curious to see how much we will be able to push in the coming months. The program we had in mind, to date, has been fully respected. There is a lot of confidence."

Ljubicic has his hands full with new work at the moment, having launched his own sports management company, LJ Sports Group. His tennis talent so far includes Borna Coric and Matteo Berrettini.

Ljubicic doesn't intend to clash with Federer's own agency, Team8 Global. Federer will drop to world No. 5 next week behind Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem and Daniil Medvedev.
