First ever Mallorca Open kicks off

The inaugural Mallorca Open will see WTA stars hit the pristine grass courts of the Tennis Club Santa Posna. Until now, tennis on the island was synonymous with Rafael Nadal (it's his home town), and the only tour-level event in Spain was Madrid.

Roland Garros champion and new world No. 2 Garbine Muguruza headlines the field as the home favorite:
