Day 3 at Wimbledon saw plenty of incredible action on a beautiful, sunny day. With the warm weather though, came ants—flying ants to be precise. Hoards of the soaring critters disrupted play throughout the day, harassing stars like Dustin Brown, Steve Johnson, Johanna Konta, Sam Querey, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga and Barbora Strycova, to name just a few.

"They seemed to kind of go away after a while, but if it got much worse I was wanting to stop because they're hitting you in the face when you're trying to hit the ball," Querrey said after his win over Nikoloz Basilashvili.

"I also lost the set when the ants came. If I had won that set, [it] probably wouldn't have bugged me as much."

Pun intended?

"I definitely have taken home a few — both in my belly and in my bags," Konta said.

Swatting at the invaders didn't work very well, so Brown took measures into his own hands—or mouth.

The phenomenon is part of the mating season and normally lasts just a few days during the hotter part of the summer.

The day at Wimbledon has forever been dubbed Flying Ant Day.
