While prepping for the semifinal tie against Croatia, the French Davis Cup team had a little fun trying out in a competitive talent show.

Team captain Yannick Noah was the judge, appropriately, and he was almost as ruthless as infamous English judge Simon Cowell.

"Keep trying," he said after Nicolas Mahut's decent attempt. Mahut's doubles partner Pierre-Hugues Hubert tried juggling instead of going for a shot in the hoop.

French Davis Cup team shows off talent

Looking the most eager, and thinking outside the box, Hubert earned a begrudging "10" from Noah.

Then the entertainer Gael Monfils stepped up for a classic dunk, also earning a "10" just for his raw talent. Despite the top score, Monfils would end up being ruled out for the tie with a knee injury.

The best (failed) attempt has to be Richard Gasquet for missing the hoop entirely. (How do you say air ball in French?) "There is no zero," Noah says.

The semifinal tie in Croatia kicked off Friday with singles action seeing air-baller Gasquet beat Borna Coric to put France up 1-0.
