While the tennis sphere is still reeling from Serena Williams' withdrawal news from both Indian Wells and Miami (due to a left knee injury), Richard Gasquet has been quietly dealing with his own health issues. The 30-year-old Frenchman has been forced into a hospital bed with appendicitis, an ailment that has hindered both Tomas Berdych and Rafael Nadal in the past.

Indian Wells and Miami will miss seeing Gasquet's flashy backhand (he reached the fourth round of both ATP Masters 1000 events last season).
