Cori "Coco" Gauff began her US Open campaign on Tuesday night inside Louis Armstrong Stadium. Gauff's opener against 18-year-old Anastasia Potapova was filled with tension and pressure, but the young star proved that she can handle it by posting a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win.

The 15-year-old stepped out in front of a packed stadium. It was clear the teen was not revealing her full potential and wasn't committing to her strokes, which made it easier for Potapova to shorten and dictate points.

The world No. 140 wild card entry got up from the set changeover as a new player, looking more like the one that had an inspiring Wimbledon run. She hit out on with more confidence, forcing Potapova to play one more ball to roar back and capture the second set 6-2.
