The Percept line takes over for the outgoing VCORE Pro family. It’s more of a name change than a reinvention, as the racquet still maintains the same specs and underlying attributes of great feel and control. This latest update has an improved dampening system and more graphite in the hoop for a sturdier response at contact.

The 97 is lower-powered, but when technique and timing are on point, delivers a clean, accurate ball with enough pace and movement to make an impression. The lower flex provides comfort and superb touch, which helps Tiafoe make use of his soft hands and all-court versatility.

While Tiafoe has the defined arms to go sleeveless, the traditional style is how most mere mortals will opt for this crew. The seams at the shoulder are strategically placed to stay out of the way and promote freedom of movement. The moisture-wicking, knit fabric keeps sweat away from the body, while the vibrant geometric print does it in style.

The four-way woven fabric of the shorts is light and stretchy so it doesn’t cling to the legs. Angled side pleats also lessen restriction, with slanted dual pockets offering secure ball storage. An elastic waistband and drawcord make for comfortable and custom fit.

Tiafoe has custom-made Big Foe editions of the GP Turbo. With a full-length Zoom Air unit stitched directly to the upper, it’s a supremely cushioned and bouncy ride. The plush, padded collar adds to the high degree of comfort. It’s not the most breathable shoe, but if you’re pounding the hard courts, the top-notch shock absorption is a huge asset.

Unfortunately, you can’t find this particularly colorway, and only the women’s model is currently being stocked. If possible, men can move up 1.5 sizes for a matching fit.
