Jenson Brooksby is still relatively unknown, but judging by the way he’s crushing it in 2021, the young upstart will soon be on a lot of people’s radar.

On Sunday, Brooksby won his second ATP Challenger title of 2021 at the Orlando Open without dropping a set, upstaging Denis Kudla in the final. And with his 7-6 (6), 6-4 victory over top seed Thiago Seyboth Wild at the Tallahassee Tennis Challenger, Brooksby extended his Challenger record this year to a sizzling 16-2 mark. Eighth-seeded Michael Mmoh awaits him in the quarterfinals.

Pro Milestone

Following back-to-back ITF M25 titles in Bakersfield and Champaign in 2019, he reached a career high of No. 319, two years after earning his first ranking point.

Before turning pro in 2020, he had looked at nine colleges before choosing to play at Baylor University in 2019. He ultimately redshirted due to injury, and did not appear in any matches.

"Jenson is one of the strongest competitors I have seen and has a love for the game that is second to none,” Baylor head coach Brian Boland said. "The combination of his innate skill set and incredible work ethic have helped him separate himself from his competition at every age group."

First Major Match Victory

Having qualified for the 2019 US Open, the 20-year-old American earned his first Grand Slam match win when he took out former world No. 4 Tomas Berdych before falling to 17th-seeded Nikoloz Basilashvili in the second round. A year prior, Brooksby had reached the boys’ singles semifinals.

Man's Best Friend

He has a cute dog named Mocha, which he welcomed into the family in 2019.

Ratings Milestone

On Monday, he made his Top 200 debut, jumping 38 spots to No. 194.
