It’s a true viewing pleasure when Grigor Dimitrov is in the zone.

On Friday, the former world No. 3 reached his second consecutive ATP Masters 1000 semifinal. Facing good friend Hubert Hurkacz, Dimitrov fought off the Nitto ATP Finals hopeful, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, at the Rolex Paris Masters to become the first man through to the final four.

Dimitrov picked up his 40th match win of the season, his most since 2017 when he had 49. Thirteen of those have come after the US Open, which includes victories over world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz (Shanghai), world No. 3 Daniil Medvedev (Paris) and then world No. 4 Holger Rune (Beijing).

“I’m feeling as good as I can be. It’s been a crazy year for me on and off the court with so many different and mixed emotions,” he told Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj afterwards. “I need to slow down after this week and kind of reassess. This is all I want.”
