"Hip hip Murray!": Murray gets first ATP win of comeback

It wasn't easy but Andy Murray won the first ATP singles match of his comeback on Tuesday over Tennys Sandgren, 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-1. Murray had lost to Sandgren in his last ATP appearance in Winston Salem last month.

The world, and his mom, took note of his milestone victory.

First ATP level win for Andy Murray since January. Pretty much broke his opponent physically in that deciding set, 6-1. Some vintage defence, scurrying, plenty to be encouraged about.

Since undergoing hip replacement surgery after the Australian Open, Murray went 0-2 at the ATP level and 2-1 at the ATP Challenger level. He fared better in doubles, winning Queens Club in his first tournament back.

Murray is ranked No. 413 after being able to play just five events in 2019. He'll take on Alex de Minaur in the next round in Zhuhai.
