Holger Rune is turning the “too-short off-season” truism on its head with an ambitious vacation itinerary that has seen the former world No. 4 split his time between Dubai and the Maldives since playing his last ATP tournament of 2024 earlier this month.

Buoyed by a semifinal finish at the Rolex Paris Masters, the 21-year-old Rune has gone from the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean to recharge after an up and down season ended with him falling just short of a return to the Nitto ATP Finals, where he qualified for the first time in 2023.

While some of his colleagues are still slugging it out through illness and injury in Turin, Rune was making the most of his early start to his off-season, sharing the view from his jet-ski in Dubai.

But that was only Part 1.

From there, Rune revealed his flight to the tennis player’s favorite island getaway, where his pre-season workouts have already begun.

“Couldn’t wish for better surroundings to kickstart my body,” Rune wrote on social media.

Back in the water for more jet-skiing, Rune also got up close with some spectacular undersea creatures.

“Ocean beauties passing by at night,” captioned the world No. 13.

The Dane even found time to indulge his crafty side, getting creative with a little pottery outing.

“It was surprisingly fun,” raved Rune, who shook off a slower start to the season to reach the semifinals at two 2024’s final Masters 1000 (Cincinnati).
