Roberto Bautista Agut couldn't squeeze past nine-time Halle champion Roger Federer, but he didn't make it an easy win for the world No. 3. In Friday's quarterfinal matchup, Bautista fared better than ever against Federer. His aggressive play and willingness to go for shots led him to win his second set out of nine lifetime matches against the Swiss.

The Spaniard earned Friday's hot shot when Federer crushed a forehand down-the-line and followed it into the net. Bautista got the ball back but Federer took time away from the Spaniard with a quick forehand volley to the opposite side of the court, and the Spaniard ran the ball down and hit a fiery forehand passing shot to win the point.

Bautista Agut's amazing shot even cracked Federer's calm demeanor. Still, it wasn't enough to dispatch the 20-time Grand Slam champion as the Spaniard ultimately fell, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
