Nick Kyrgios is no stranger to grueling five-set matches, but in his second-round clash against Ugo Humbert it felt a little different. He was down match point twice in his battle against the Frenchman and managed to come out on top, 5-7, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4.

As always the world No. 47 was very candid and honest after the match:

"I'm happy with just winning man. At this stage of my career—I feel old, I just want to have a glass of red wine after a match like that," Kyrgios told press.

Although he's more well-known for his quick on-court temper, the Aussie can be mentally tough when it comes down to the wire: he holds an 8-1 record in his last nine five-set bouts.

At first it looked like an all-too familiar narrative would unfold as the 6'4 Aussie found himself down a set and on the receiving end of a code violation for violently hitting his racquet. In a blink of an eye, Kyrgios was back in the match, grinding for every single point.

"That match was a crazy one," Kyrgios said. "I've been a part of a lot of matches and that one has been definitely one of the most memorable ones. I'm still in awe of the atmosphere. The stadium definitely didn't feel half full—it felt great—the atmosphere was insane."

Kyrgios fell to the ground after securing the epic win, and soaked in the moment under the Melbourne Arena lights amongst the roar of the crowd.

The 25-year-old is into the third round where he will face 2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem. Kyrgios spoke about his "respect" for the Austrian and how great it's been to see him reach the top of the game.

"I'm just hurting thinking about playing him," Kyrgios said.

Before ending the press conference, Kyrgios provided even more laughs when he said a reporter looked like his friend, Andy Murray.

"He looks like Andy Murray," Kyrgios said.

"I actually get that quite often," the reporter said. "I've had someone mistake me for Jamie at a bar in New York."

Kyrgios has squared off against Thiem only once back in 2015. The match would end abruptly as Kyrgios retired in the opening set.
