In new spreads for L'Uomo Vogue, the Italian men's publication, Taylor Fritz broods and postures for the camera. He gives it his best direct-address looks as he sits, stands, and reclines in styles from Alexander McQueen, Salvatore Ferragamo and Brioni.

The American will turn 19 this week. Married earlier this year, his days of playing one of "The Charmers"—this October issue's theme—are over, in a way. Even so, L'Uomo Vogue christens him "The Chosen One" in its pages. He may very well live up to the name, but first he has a Q&A to do.

In the magazine interview, the No. 73-ranked Fritz kindly receives the compliment of being compared to Pete Sampras, speaks to how he likes to play aggressively, relishes how Juan Martin del Potro and Roger Federer go about their matches, and salutes the crop of young Americans like him—Tommy Paul, Michael Mmoh, et al.—who might give the United States its best batch of talent in men's tennis since the era of Sampras, Andre Agassi, Michael Chang and Jim Courier.

If Fritz wants to rise to the pinnacle of his chosen profession, this so-chosen one will have company. But for now, a fashion shoot.
